Pastoral Note from Rev. Elka

Oh, my loves,

Whatever you are feeling today, know that you are not alone. We are all in this together. It will be rough. It will be scary. And we will hold each other’s hands on the journey.

Take good care of yourself today. There will be time for the work of this moment. And the work of this moment is also a cup of tea or a bath or a walk or a moment of connection with someone you love. It is breathing deeply when terror seems overwhelming. Hydrate. Hug someone (with consent of course). Go outside. Eat something nourishing. Or eat some more candy if you want. All other work will keep while you tend to yourself and your beloveds.

Remember, I am here. I am in this struggle with you. And I will fight like hell beside you to keep all of us as safe as possible. Please reach out! I am here for you. I will listen and empathize. I will not jump to solutions. I will sit with you in the awfulness of this moment without trying to turn on the hope until we are both ready. I am sorry that this is where we are. I love you.

Faithfully,

Rev. Elka
